About Alana Barlia
A college student, Alana Barlia studies psychology at Boston University, from which she plans to graduate with her bachelor's degree in the spring of 2015. Outside of her studies, she involves herself on campus as the service learning chair of the Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority. In this capacity, Alana Barlia has organized several volunteer initiatives and fundraisers to benefit nonprofit groups like the Sharsheret Breast Cancer Foundation and the Elizabeth Glasier Pediatric Aids Foundation.
Besides her academic experience and community involvement, Alana Barlia gained hands-on experience as paid summer intern with Dynamic Kids, a pediatric occupational therapy office. The position allowed her to sit in on therapy sessions and learn about the practice's operational procedures. While at Dynamic Kids, she held a second position as a waitress with River City Grille, where she served customers and contributed to the efficient maintenance of the kitchen. Alana Barlia's work history also includes time as a salesperson with Juicy Couture, a lifeguard with the Ardsley Swim and Tennis Club, and a counselor-in-training and lifeguard assistant at Camp Schodack.
